The most popular beer style currently, hoppy, refreshing and usually a hit of citrus.
With a cloudy pour that is typical of this beer style, this gem from Vocation smacks of juicy flavours and a lovely smooth mouthfeel. Made all the better as it is widely available in most supermarkets, We would look to pair this with something like Ceviche or maybe some cheeses! Yum!
Criminally under available, this fantastic Pale Ale is made from a mash up of Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts over American and Bavarian Hops which give it a lovely smooth finish. Hoppy both on the nose and the tongue, we would serve this beauty of a beer alongside our favourite BBQ meats.
We love a left field brew here at Chew & Brews and this is one we have tried recently and loved! Bergamot and black tea linger underneath a juicy and tropical beer that leaves you just wanting another one! The perfect session beer and we would have this alongside some of our spicier dishes like Chipotle Turkey or even Jungle Curry.
A Juicy hop bomb of a beer, another blinding effort from one of our favourite local brewers this beer really does represent the craft scene at the moment and we will be “sampling” it again soon!
A style that we LOVE and think goes brilliantly with food, just beware of the typically high alcohol content!
Known as the “Flemish Burgundy” due to its colour, this is the pinnacle of not only Belgian Beer but, in our opinion, all beer.
Caramel and Chocolate notes make this a complex beer and, as it is extremely hard to get hold of, we prefer to sit back and drink this on its own or with a few chunks of dark chocolate.
For us, here at Chew & Brews, this is the best beer in the world.
Crisp, light and refreshing
A crisp Keller style lager with a lovely soft feel. The subtle bready flavour makes this a perfect match for our slightly spicy chicken dishes.
We love this Hackney based brewery who also produce some of the best Pale Ales around at the moment.
One of the leading craft lagers at the moment and for good reason. We love this here and there is always a few cans in the fridge. A lovely crisp lager with a bitter hop finish that leaves you wanting just one more!
Dark & warming, most popular with desserts but can go with savouries too!
This beer has so much going for it for us. Brewed locally in Hove, Vegan friendly and most importantly delicious!
We love the chocolate maltiness of this brew and whilst it obviously goes nicely with cheese and desserts, we love it with a decedent Mac & Cheese!
What can we say about this gloriously mad creation from the Welsh brewers Tiny Rebel? It does what it says on the can really. Hints of the smoke of the bacon with an underlying sweetness. Part of a unique quadrilogy so keep an eye out for the others coming soon!
Another from their Globetrotter range, Jazz Age is another of our recent favourites. The alcohol is quite present to be honest but in a good way. This is one we have already got more of in and comes strongly recommended as an after dinner beer between two.
There are weird and wonderful beer styles making an emergence again now with Sour beers the most popular right now.#
An extreme example of the sour section of the beer industry at the moment, this is lip curliingly sour. Hints of sherbet this is best drunk cold on a hot day!
Another big sour beer with huge hits of Raspberry and hint of underlying fruits. Served best with our White Chocolate, Raspberry and Pistachio Tiramisu.
If there has ever been a beer that comes with the “Ronseal“ guarantee it is this one. Mad, sweet and sticky, this Pale Ale will not leave you guessing. Smacking of jam upfront both on the nose and the tongue, it never relents. Weird, sweet but lovely.
Keep an eye out for the even stranger “Turn it up to 11” an Imperial 11% version of this. Not as good but one to say you’ve tried!
We love a Steam Beer here at chewandbrews and whilst Anchor Brewing will take some beating the title of the best, this is as close as we have had recently. A special beer.
Released in 2012, this 8 year old Barleywine had aged spectacularly. Paired with our Soft Baked Ganache dish it was just the most wonderful beer and one of the best examples of what ageing a beer well can achieve.
